Academics

Find Aberystwyth classes here. (Classes are called "Modules")

While at Aberystwyth University, students may choose from a large variety of courses. The university welcomes students from all over Wales and more than 90 other countries. Many majors are recommended, see more academic and course information on Aberystwyth's website. Information about modules (courses) currently being offered can be found by visiting the Module's website. Aberystwyth's academic schedule includes three terms; the Michaelmas Term (from late Sept to mid December), the Lent Term (end of January to mid March) and the Easter Term (mid April to early June.) Students studying at Aberystwyth during WU's fall semester would complete the Michaelmas Term and those studying during WU's spring semester stay for the Lent and Easter terms.

Housing

Students will live in double occupancy rooms on Aberystwyth's campus. Kitchens and living spaces are shared with other international and U.K. students. Read more about accommodation on Aberystwyth's website. During the Spring semester students residing in certain residence halls at Aberystwyth, including international students, must vacate their dorm rooms during the 3-4 week Easter Break. Many students choose to travel during this time and others have found housing in Aberystwyth for the Easter break.

Dates

The Aberystwyth program is available during either fall or spring semesters. The fall semester begins mid September and concludes in January; spring semester begins in January and concludes in June.

Important note: Finals for the Michaelmas Term (fall semester) are in the third week of January. Although students will not miss any class time it is important to make arrangements with professors immediately upon arrival at Aberystwyth to take the finals early or after returning to Willamette. Students must return to the U.S. for the beginning of Willamette's spring semester. Professors are not obligated to allow changes to the finals schedule or location. An OIE advisor can provide additional details.
