Fun Facts

I love whales. Rain makes me happy. I'm addicted to Scrabble. I have oddly small feet and have to wear child-size shoes. I also have many strange and annoying allergies, including a mild allergy to pineapple and a very extreme allergy to Sun Triple Clean laundry detergent. I'm really bad at understanding references to pop culture.

Interests and Hobbies

In my free time one of my hobbies I like to tear down the patriarchy by reading books by feminist Latino American women writers and Chican@s. Also I like to watch a lot of international movies. That said I am not a fan of Hollywood, but there are some movies that deserve the time watching. I like to watch a lot of movies by Spanish movie directors such as Almodovar and I am recently really enjoying Alejandro Iñárritu's work (Birdman). I also like to take friends to watch these movies with me and leave them clueless.

For some reason I learned the Greek alphabet very, very young and until this day I can still remember it. I have no idea why did I picked up the Greek alphabet.

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

“The hardest thing to do is to act according to your thinking." Growth takes time and is a process in which you have to first learn to know, love and accept yourself. Know that your identity and personality will change consequentially, but that the most important key is to remember not to backtrack. Academically, do not settle on a major as fast explore for a bit

Shout-out to Professor Opie, Professor Drew, Professor Hobgood, Professor Koomen and Professor Murillo.

Interests and Hobbies

I've been a competitive swimmer since I was 6 years old, and it has been a big part of my life. I am a HUGE foodie, and am willing to try basically any type of food (especially breakfast/brunch foods). I firmly believe food makes people happy, and can help bring communities together. I like to hang out and engage in conversations with people and learn about their life's experiences through stories, anecdotes, quotes or whatever it may be. Not only do I get to learn about the beautiful people that they are, but I learn a little bit more about myself.

Favorite Class at WU

Any class with Professor Wen (Chinese studies department) Exercise Physiology with Professor Lockard

Favorite Event at WU

Take a Break Program (a great opportunity to do service for the community and learn about the social/economical/systematic issues some people face) and Willamette University Luau (the food is fantastic and learning to dance is so much fun!)

As a foodie, I don't have one so I have to categorize... Breakfast/Bruch: Annette's, Word of Mouth, Sassy Onion Sushi: Cafe CREMA, Momiji's Sushi & Crepes (Silverton area) Thai: Thai Orchid, Tup Tim Thai Cuisine Pho: Kim Huong Korean: Happy Bibimbap House Hawaiian: Wild Pineapple

I love the culture of Hawaii and like to teach anyone pidgin (Hawaiian Creole English)! I've been hit by and rode a turtle. My lucky number is 13, I am a total goober, enjoy a good joke or pun and I like to tell lame dad jokes. Lastly, I'm really excited to meet you :)!!!

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

"My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success." - Helen Hayes
