The NSOCO student leadership team has designed a diverse group of service activities to fill each day. In addition to serving in the community, there will be time every day when all three Jump Start programs join together for meals and evening activities.
Check in will be from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. After checking in, you will drop your belongings off in your room, take your photo for your student ID, and spend some time getting to know your leaders and other NSOCO participants.
Participants will engage in service work with the Oregon School for the Deaf community garden, Colonia Libertad, and the City of Salem Parks and Recreation department.
Participants will engage in service work with Family Building Blocks, Union Gospel Mission, Willamette Humane Society, Marion Polk Food Share, Juntos Podemos, and Colonia Libertad. Participants will also participate in a panel discussion featuring service opportunities at Willamette and the service-related careers of Willamette alumni.
Participants will engage in service work with Wilson Lee Retirement Center, Salem Hospital, HOME Youth Resource Center, Bush Elementary School, and Marion Polk Food Share.
All JumpStart participants will get a chance to select a placement for the day hosted by Ohana, Steppin'Out, or NSOCO. The NSOCO program will be assisting with a wetlands restoration project at the Chemawa Indian School and learning about service opportunities available through the Chemawa Indian School - Willamette University Partnership Program.
We will have you back to campus for Opening Days activities at 10:00 a.m.
