Name
The name of the organization shall be Willamette Emergency Medical Services (WEMS).
Purpose
The purpose of the organization shall be to encourage and facilitate training of students expressing interests in emergency medical services to include but not limited to training in CPR and First Aid, and to provide certification in CPR to the Willamette Community. To provide emergency medical aid to the Willamette Community, and to offset local EMS services and ensure the prompt response to medical incidents on campus.
Membership
Membership is open to anyone who has a sincere interest in active participation in the group. All voting members and officers of WEMS must be registered students at Willamette University. All members must be licensed First Responders, Wilderness First Responders, EMT�s of any level, and persons in training for such credentials. WEMS will not deny consideration for membership to any student because of sex, race, religion, creed, national origin, handicap, or marital status.
Organization
Officers shall include a Director, two Assistant Directors, a Special Events Coordinator, an Office Manager, and a Representative of WEMS members-in-training.
The Director shall be the overall supervisor of the organization. The Director will delegate duties as necessary. It shall be the responsibility of the Director to coordinate the efforts of the delegates, as well as to serve as the resource and adviser for members. The Director shall either serve as the chair of all meetings or shall appoint a chair. The Director will also be responsible for arranging and facilitating of training CPR, First Aid, First Responder, EMT-Basic, and any other training deemed worthy by the members.
The Assistant Directors shall assist the Director in the duties of that office, as requrested by the Director, and preside at meetings in the absence of the Director.
The Office Manager shall be responsible for membership, publicity, and correspondence. The Office Manager will also be responsible for the ordering of new supplies, the maintenance of the office, and the relaying of phone messages.
The Special Events Coordinator shall be responsible for any events or gatherings coordinated by the WEMS members. This shall include but not be limited to the coordination of banquets, CPR, First Aid, First Responder, EMT-Basic courses, on-campus educational events, and any off-campus events.
The Representative of WEMS Members-in-training shall be responsible for attending executive meetings, relaying information to the members taking the respective EMS courses.
The officers shall be elected by the executive committee, including our advisors, and the previous executive staff. Officers shall serve a term of one year. Officers can be removed by a vote of two thirds of the membership.
Advisors shall be the Director of Campus Safety, the Director of Bishop Wellness Center, and an ER Supervisor. These people shall serve through administrative support to the group. They will be responsible for guiding the Director and the rest of the group in their decisions and organization.
Meetings
Meetings shall be held regularly at a time set by the members of the club. Notice of special meetings will be sent out via e-mail.
Parliamentary Authority
The recognized parliamentary authority shall be Cannon�s Rules of Order. This shall be followed in all cases where it does not contradict the constitution.
Amendments This constitution can be amended by a simple majority vote of the members present at a specified meeting, for which members have received five days advanced notice.
