Awesome Academic Adventures - look for new classes soon. Registration opens 4/2015
Four one-week sessions of fun, hands-on, lab-based activities for students entering grades 1-8. Themes of Wind, Fire, Earth and Water allow for integrated curriculum in Willamette University's state of the art facilities. Passionate Willamette University MAT graduates teach small groups--usually no more than 10 students to each teacher. Willamette University faculty and area professionals are invited guest speakers and share their excitement and expertise.
Previous topics of study included:
WIND WEEK - Weather, birds, rockets, math, astronomy, energy and motion
FIRE WEEK - Chemistry, environmental science, fire, propulsion, pottery, Native Americans, writing and drums
EARTH WEEK - Biology, vertebrate and invertebrate live cycles and dissection, renewable energy, botany and sculpture
WATER WEEK - Marine biology, turbines, early settlers, boat building, hydrology, printmaking, string instruments
Who can sign up?
Students who are completing grades 1-8 with an interest in learning more about science, the arts, world cultures and creative writing.
Where is it held?
In the Collins and Olin Science Centers on the Willamette University campus in Salem.
When is it held?
- WIND WEEK – July 7-11
- FIRE WEEK – July 14-18
- EARTH WEEK – July 21-25
- WATER WEEK – July 28-August 1
Program Days/Times – Each session runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lunch Breaks – Please note that students should bring their own lunch. Supervision during the break will be provided.

Deadline is seven days prior to the start date of the camp you register for.

Scholarships are available when tuition revenue allows. The first-round scholarship deadline for Awesome Academic Adventures and Summer Explorations 2014 is May 16, 2014. A second round of scholarships will be awarded if tuition revenue allows. Contact Christine Speak to receive an application.
