Sarah Carlson

Interim Manager of Communications

Before landing at Willamette University College of Law, Sarah Carlson launched her career in higher education at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. In 2014, Carlson began working for the Career Development Center at WSU as the marketing intern. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, she was hired full-time as the marketing assistant and special events coordinator with the office. She was later promoted to marketing manager and continued marketing the office’s services to students through social media, news stories, graphic design and events.

In August 2016, Carlson accepted the marketing assistant role with Willamette Law and relocated to the Willamette Valley, following her dream of living near the Oregon coast. She is now the interim manager of communications. Carlson works on annual law school marketing and public relations projects and is the point person for coordinating media requests with law faculty experts and promoting the law school’s public-facing special events. She is responsible for promotions including brochures, posters, and signage, webpages, registration forms, email marketing, social media posts, and media outreach.

Carlson enjoys learning more about marketing, especially within higher education, and gaining new skills in communications and graphic design.

She received her bachelor’s degree in communication (journalism emphasis) from Wichita State University.
