Faculty Support Specialist

Raymond Penney is a faculty support specialist at Willamette University College of Law, providing administrative assistance to more than 30 full-time and part-time faculty members in support of their teaching, research, writing and legal projects. He also serves as trial practice coordinator for Willamette Law’s Intensive Trial Practice Program. Joining Willamette Law in 2016, Penney brings with him five years of higher education experience and three years of legal education experience. Before moving to Oregon, he spent three years at the University of San Diego School of Law working in the communications department, and two years in the veterans support department at Alliant International University working with military veterans attending the school.

After high school, Penney enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent six years working as an electronics technician onboard the U.S.S. DeWert (FFG-45) and U.S.S. Curts (FFG-38), completing two six-month deployments, numerous underways, and visiting many ports of call in South America. After receiving an honorable discharge in 2007, he returned to San Diego to attend college, working his way through Southwestern Community College and then Alliant International University, culminating in a bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing communications.
