Biography

Judy Hutchison is a native of Portland, with deep roots in the city. She spent nearly twenty years in business development in the financial services field, most notably by cultivating long-term banking relationships in the non-profit and professional services sectors in Portland. These organizations benefited from Judy’s unwavering commitment to client service and her talent to engage across all levels, not only handling the banking business, but ensuring that the bank participated in the non-profit’s mission through philanthropy and volunteerism, or by fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with the professional firms, where business development was a two-way street.

Judy is now focused on a noble new mission to serve in the field of higher education. She believes that access to, and investment in, advanced business and management education creates opportunities and options. Working to promote Willamette University’s reputation as a premier institution for obtaining an MBA, Judy collaborates with the same business community that she has served for the past two decades.

As a Recruiter/Admission Counselor for the MBA for Professionals program, Judy returns to her alma mater. She was a member of the inaugural cohort, graduating from the Atkinson Graduate School of Management with Honors in January 2008. She is a graduate of The Catlin Gabel School and earned her undergraduate degree in Economics at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Judy is an enduring figure for community causes in Portland, especially those focused on education and human services. She participates in all levels with the non-profits she supports, as a leader, advocate, donor, fundraiser, and volunteer. Over the past decade, she has held leadership positions with the Rotary Club of Portland, the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Classroom Law Project, the “I Have A Dream” Foundation - Oregon, Impact NW, the Macdonald Center, the Library Foundation, The Catlin Gabel School, Penn Club of Portland, Wharton Club of Portland, Junior Achievement, Bradley Angle, the Meals on Wheels People, the Oregon Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, the Oregon Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the Sunshine Division. After participating in the Portland Police Bureau’s Community Academy, Judy was tapped to serve on the Bureau’s Training Advisory Council. Beyond Oregon, Judy traveled to New Orleans as part of a Katrina Relief Team organized by Medical Teams International. In all of her civic engagements, she participates with passion, and is a natural connector who galvanizes others to engage in good works alongside her.

Judy enjoys wine and cooking, is an avid golfer, a published poet, a past Jeopardy! contestant, a Francophile, and has a long and exciting bucket list.
