Biography
Marcus began his career as a process and planning engineer. He worked at the Electric Boat Corporation in Groton, CT and at Praegitzer Industries, Inc. before joining SUMCO, USA in Salem, OR in 2000. After receiving his MBA and J.D. simultaneously in 2009, he opened a law practice in Salem, where he represented individuals, small businesses and nonprofits. His work included business formation and transactions, estate planning, intellectual property and DUII defense. During that time he also served as Finance Officer for the Church on the Hill in Turner, OR. In 2012 he joined Douglas, Conroyd, Gibb and Pacheco, P.C. as an associate attorney specializing in estate planning and elder law.
In 2013, Marcus joined Salem Health as a continuous improvement specialist. His responsibilities include supporting peer review through retrieval and analysis of clinical performance data; designing and deploying a database to capture and report peer review data (which resulted in a 50% increase in efficiency); serving as a data coach for hospital-wide training on the use of data; and acting as a coach for performance improvement teams.
Marcus is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with the American Society for Quality. He serves on the Education Committee of the Oregon Society of Healthcare Executives and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In addition, Marcus is an involved community and church volunteer.
His personal interests include cooking, running and cycle touring. In 2009 Marcus completed a cross-country bicycle tour with his family.
