Thanks to a generous donation from Robert and Doris O'Neill, we are able to provide you and your classmates an opportunity to steer a $500,000 investment portfolio with the O'Neill Student Investment Fund.
You will work on an actual investment trading floor which provides real-time access to professional financial information and a board room where students can discuss ideas, develop strategy, and truly put your money where your mouth is.
Across two semesters you will track the performance of investments, as well as the performance of investments made in years' past.
The investment process begins with a design of a global benchmark for the following year. You will analyze economic, financial, and political developments and trends, and design an asset allocation model that combines U.S. industry sector view; a global regional view; and a risk model that represents the risk tolerance of the University and your classmates. At the end of each semester, you will present your results and outlook to panels of professional fund managers.
To date, the fund has retained earnings of 17.7%.
Earnings are being spent on professional level global financial and economic data and breaking news service, including company data, deals, and credit market analysis. Some profits from the investment fund support scholarships for students.
