How do you manage competing priorities while pursuing your MBA? Since enrolling in the MBA for Professionals program, I’ve started a new position at a new company, received a salary increase, and have had to frequently travel for work. Strong communication and teamwork with my cohort, as well as managing my time in preparation for business travel, have helped me balance my responsibilities while earning my MBA.
Why Willamette MBA? The program is highly rated, and I was attracted to the cohort model. I looked at online schools, but they did not align with my learning style. Willamette has a community feel. You have a team of people here to support you and cheer you on.
How have you benefited from your MBA? I’ve polished my rough edges in leadership and learned about financial management in greater detail. My MBA has greatly strengthened my daily management of my team, particularly in my ability to customize my approach. Also, seeing what goes into other departments I work with allows me to better appreciate what they do.
Why a cohort model? Learning how to effectively communicate with many different personality types has been the most meaningful lesson of my MBA experience. Having such a safe environment in the classroom allows your cohort to challenge your thoughts when needed.
What would you say to a professional who’s considering going back to school for their MBA? Definitely do it! Be prepared to be challenged consistently. I never thought I'd go back to school and I’m so happy I took the chance for myself and came to Willamette.
