Lisbeth Claus teaches management of organizations and global human resources management. Her research interests include the development of human resources as a global profession, global performance management and cross-cultural management. Claus’ 2004 Worldwide Benchmark Study: Emerging Trends in Global Mobility was picked up by the Associated Press and featured on numerous websites and in 41 daily newspapers, including USA Today, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe and The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The report shows that higher salaries are, surprisingly, not the primary factor in an employee’s decision to accept an overseas job. Companies need to focus more on family, language, cultural and educational concerns. Survey responses came from North and South America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
