Willamette Travel Center Matches Carbon Offset Purchases

Air travel is a major contributor to carbon emissions, and as Willamette University celebrates Sustainability Month, the Travel Center is doing its part to help curb the problem.

Thanks to a grant from the university's Sustainability Council, the Travel Center has created an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to offset their carbon emissions when they travel by air to and from Willamette. Through Carbonfund.org, members of the university community can calculate and offset their emissions, and the Travel Center will match these contributions.

The Travel Center's efforts are one of many programs highlighting environmental issues during April for Willamette's Fifth Annual Sustainability Month. Other events include lectures, movies, community service projects and activities highlighting Willamette's four E's of sustainability: education, environment, equity and economics.
