Oregon Symphony performs classical concert at Willamette University

The Oregon Symphony, conducted by Carlos Kalmar, will perform a classical concert Tuesday, May 25, at 8 p.m. in Smith Auditorium at Willamette University.

The concert features violinist Elina Vähälä, and will include performances of Lindberg's Purcell Variation, Britten's Violin Concerto and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, "The Titan."

Since 1955 the Oregon Symphony, based in Portland, has partnered with Willamette to bring the symphony's classical concerts to the Salem community. Pops concerts were added to the series in 1975.

Today the Oregon Symphony in Salem presents a season of nine to ten concerts annually on the Willamette campus.
