Kiplinger’s names Willamette among best value private liberal arts colleges nationwide

Kiplinger's Personal Finance names Willamette University among the best values in private liberal arts colleges nationwide within its annual listing of universities that "deliver a high-quality education at an affordable price."

According to the "Kiplinger 100," Willamette is the top value private liberal arts college in Oregon and was ranked 64th nationally. The list considers criteria such as average student debt, standardized test scores, students per faculty, graduation rate and net price — the cost after factoring in need- and merit-based financial aid, excluding loans.

Selected from a pool of more than 600 private institutions provided by Peterson's, schools on  the Kiplinger list were ranked by academic quality and affordability — with quality accounting for two-thirds of the total. The rankings factor in both the data and the results of Kiplinger's reporting.

Willamette University was also The Princeton Review's only "Best Value College for 2010" in the Pacific Northwest and was listed among the top ten Up and Coming National Liberal Arts Colleges in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges 2011."
