Professor’s group featured at international jazz festival

James Miley, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies, will join his band, Bug, at the Kathmandu Jazz Festival from Oct. 30 - Nov. 3.

The group will also participate in a workshop for local music students and perform a concert for school children between headline shows.

The festival brings world-class artists to Nepal to promote creativity, cultural interaction and nurture the talents of local musicians.

Bug comprises James Miley on piano, Peter Epstein on alto sax, Jeff Miley on guitar, Roger Shew on bass and Brian Hamada on drums. They describe their sound as "marked by a clear sense of melody, a cinematic scope of orchestration, and a sense of openness that lets the band interact at the highest levels."
