Professor Jean-David Coen
Willamette music faculty duo to play Chopin and Rachmaninoff
Willamette University pianist Jean-David Coen and cellist Hekun Wu will perform works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff in a faculty recital on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Hudson Hall within the Rogers Music Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
In celebration of Chopin's 200th birthday, the program will feature a selection of his polonaises for solo piano and his Introduction and Polonaise-brillante for cello and piano, composed when he was only 19.
The program will begin with Rachmaninoff's Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, which exudes the composer's romantic spirit with a Russian soul.
