Washington Monthly and Newsweek/The Daily Beast rankings reward service

Willamette University earned high marks in Washington Monthly’s 2011 liberal arts college rankings. The university was ranked in the top ten nationwide for Peace Corps participation and community service, propelling Willamette to the 27th spot overall.

Washington Monthly ranks colleges “based on their contribution to the public good,” including factors such as service and scholarship. The university has been included in Washington Monthly's top 100 liberal arts colleges since 2006, the year official rankings began.

Newsweek and The Daily Beast also recognized the university’s service programs, jointly listing Willamette 12th nationally for “Most Service-Oriented.”

Beginning with Jump Start, the Office of Community Service Learning connects students to service opportunities. Willamette is regularly among the top producers for schools of its size for Peace Corps volunteers and is recognized nationally as a leader in sustainability and civic engagement.
