Willamette Academy benefit celebrates students’ successes

For 12 years, Willamette Academy has helped local students become the first in their family to graduate from high school, with 99 percent of its students graduating from high school and 95 percent attending the college of their choice.

To celebrate the students’ achievements, Willamette Academy is hosting its annual “Believe in Me” benefit dinner March 15.

The event will take place in the Grand Ballroom at 181 High St. N.E., beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $50, with proceeds benefiting the academy.

As the evening’s feature entertainment, illusionist and mentalist Hart Keene will perform the magic, mind reading and comedy routine that landed him on NBC’s "America’s Got Talent" in 2010. Students will also share how the academy has impacted their lives.

Willamette Academy’s mission is to empower youths who have the potential and desire to pursue a college degree. Seventh graders apply to the program, which provides academic support in reading, writing, math, science and technology for the next five years.
