The Hallie Ford Museum of Art invites the public to celebrate International Museum Day on May 18 with free admission. The museum will also offer a demonstration with conservator Tom Fuller who will be working with the museum’s Native American basket collection in the Maribeth Collins Lobby from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 700 State St.
International Museum Day is organized annually by the International Council of Museums and was established in 1977 to increase public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society. This year’s theme is Museums (Memory + Creativity) = Social Change. This event provides an opportunity for museums to raise awareness of their role as institutions that both display and protect our rich heritage in creative ways, that serve society and inspire positive change. Last year 32,000 museums in more than 129 countries participated in this event.
