Grants support new professor hires
Two Willamette professors have earned major grants to help support the hiring of an analytical chemist and a climate change scientist — faculty who will bring new research and mentoring opportunities for students and their departments.
Sarah Kirk in chemistry and Joe Bowersox in environmental and earth sciences each earned a Research Start-up Grant for New Science Faculty from the M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust. The grants provide $30,000 in matching funds toward start-up packages for new hires in their departments.
To date, Willamette has earned 10 of these grants — more than any other university in the Pacific Northwest.
