Willamette University musicians to host tour kick-off concert in Hudson Hall

Two Willamette choirs will start their winter tour Jan. 6 at the university before they travel throughout Oregon and California.

The Willamette University Chamber Choir, a 41-voice ensemble, and Willamette Singers, a 17-member vocal jazz ensemble, will sing at 7 p.m. at Hudson Hall. Directed by Wallace Long, the concert is free of charge. A goodwill donation is encouraged.

Selected works will include “O Lux Beata Trinitas,” “Hentakan Jiwa,” and “Evening Prayer,” by the Chamber Choir and “One Day I’ll Fly Away” and “Muddy Water,” by the Willamette Singers. The performance will include several sacred and secular works, both a cappella and accompanied. The McNary High School choir from Salem and the West Salem High School choir will also perform.
