Welcome Willamette’s summer visitors

by Stephanie Simpson, Housing Support Coordinator,

A number of visitors will be on campus for summer conferences, camps and events. Please extend these guests a warm Willamette welcome. For many, it will be their first experience of our community.

July 15–17: The NorthWest Ellucian Users Group are higher education support professionals who use either Colleague or Banner. They will meet to share best practices and recent lessons learned in an effort to better serve students and each other. This is the conference’s 25th anniversary hosted at Colleague’s original customer university.

July 15–19: The Pro Hoops Girls Youth Camp has a long tradition of serving Oregon’s youth by emphasizing the characteristics of basketball that apply to daily life.

July 21–24: Oregon Foster Youth Connection, a program of Children First for Oregon, will be on campus hosting their biennial policy conference where current and former foster youth (14–25) unite to discuss their ideas for what they believe would make foster care better.

July 22–26: The Boys Youth Camp is designed to expose campers to every aspect of high-level basketball in a way that is fun and easy to understand.

July 24–Aug. 8: Students from Fujimi High School will be visiting and participating in an ESL and homestay program through Cultural Gateways Inc. The program aims to promote international understanding and friendship.

July 23–Aug. 5: Tokyo Jogakkan (TJK) Girls’ High School was founded in 1888 and sends a group of students to TIUA for a two-and-a-half week visit each summer. During their time, they attend classes, take educational field trips, experience a one-night homestay and tour the highlights of Oregon.

July 28: Children’s Educational Theatre provides an intensive, enriching theater experience for children of all ages, experiences and backgrounds in the Mid-Valley area. Willamette will host CET’s Fine Arts Night Showcase.

July 30–Aug. 2: Yearbooks Northwest is Oregon and Southwest Washington’s ultimate yearbook camp. Students participate in a multitude of classes and learn skills such as layout design and technological proficiency.

Aug. 1–3: The Elite Girls Camp is designed for basketball players seeking to play at the next level whether that is varsity or college.
