Ongoing Programs

The Office of the Chaplains sponsors these programs every week during the College of Liberal Arts academic year.

Daily Private Prayer and Meditation

7:30 - 11:00 a.m.
January 18 - May 13, 2017, Cone Chapel

Cone Chapel is open weekday mornings during the school year (unless the university is closed for a holiday) to give members of the campus community a quiet space for private or informal small group prayer or meditation.

University Convocation

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
January 26 - April 27, 2017 (Thursdays), Cone Chapel

Planned and facilitated by the interdisciplinary class, "Convo: Campus/Community/ Cosmos," the University Convocation series brings speakers, musicians or other performers -- often with a spiritual or ethical message -- to campus every week.

Mindfulness Meditation

4:15 - 5:00 p.m.
January 21 - April 28, 2017 (Thursdays), Cone Chapel, Waller Hall

The practice of mindfulness refers to our efforts and discipline at being fully present in the now, of living in the present moment. Mindfulness practice nourishes an understanding of the interconnectedness of our lives with the larger world we inhabit, allowing us to develop an enhanced awareness of the present, a stillness that cultivates a mind of love, compassion, kindness and peace. Beginners are most welcome!
