Earn credits while studying the cultural arts, politics, economics and social issues in the USA's third largest city. The Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture is a non-traditional academic program with experience-based sem
inars taught by the center’s faculty and internships that take the students out of the classroom and into the heart of the city's neighborhoods.
Students meet with and learn from Chicago's leading social and artistic figures while gaining practical experience in the field of their choice. Interested students may also request independent studies tailored to their specific academic interests. For internship examples visit the Office of International Education’s resource library or the Chicago Center webpage. (When accessing the webpage, scroll down the page until the internship lists appear.) Representatives from The Chicago Center visit Willamette's campus once a semester
Students live in furnished Chicago Center apartments with other program participants. Each household is given a charge account at the local grocery store and students manage the monthly budget together to provide food and other household items collectively.
