Bob Mensel, Artistic Director of the Portland Gay Men's Chorus, "The world premier of BraveSouls was held in Portland on June 16, 2007. The dramatic choral work deals with the impact of war on society and was written by Robert Seeley and Robert Espindola. It explores the human cost of war and hopes for the prospect of peace."

The Crow's Shadow Institute of the Arts, on the Umatilla Indian Reservation near Pendleton, Oregon, was founded in 1992 by Walla Walla artist James Lavadour. The Institute’s goal is the creation of educational and professional opportunities for Native Americans through artistic development. Crow’s Shadow sponsors instruction in both contemporary and traditional art forms, and serves Native American emerging and established artists.
