I like to eat, be in the sun, watch Netflix/Hulu, thrift, do my laundry, clean, organize, make people laugh, jog/run, watch 1 minute baking videos on Facebook/Instagram and try to bake things.

Favorite Class at WU

My favorite professors (and classes) here are Emily Drew (Intro to American Ethnic Studies and Race, Class, Gender, & Media), Roy Pérez (Colloquium: Queer Drama: AIDS, Race, and Performance and Latin@ Countercultures), Michael Niño (Latin@ Sociology), Jade Aguilar (Sexualities), and Patricia Varas (Hispanic Civilization).

Favorite Event at WU

The annual Pow wow and Luau are pretty fun (there's shave ice at both events). Midnight Breakfast is good to go to with friends. When the sun is out it's really nice to just sit outside after the 6ish months of no warm sun. WEB puts on events with movie screenings (like for Inside Out, Straight Outta Compton, and Moana) and they provide snacks. The OMA has a First-Generation Book Drive that is super cool because it helps off-set some school expenses for First-Generation students.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

India Palace, Al Aqsa, La Margarita Express, 503 Sushi, Happy Bibimbap House, and El Tacazo Taco Truck.

Fun Facts

I broke my first bone (pinky toe) last May on the day of my cousin's wedding, so then I couldn't wear my wedges and had to hobble around the ceremony/party. I am Chicana, First-Generation, and the oldest of three. I can make really good flan, thanks to my younger sister. I have been backpacking in the Sierra Nevadas, visited India, and I will be in the Spain this coming Fall.

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

Relax a little bit... there's a lot of excitement and pressure to do everything and excel at everything your first semester/year here, but that usually ends with burnt out first years in their second semester. As a third year, I look back at how I used to complain about being stressed, but now I realize that younger me wasn't really that stressed compared to now. That's not to say you are not capable, because you sure as hell are. Just remember to take a breath every once and awhile, enjoy what you are doing, and treat yourself when you've earned it (:

Favorite Class at WU

My favorite class was International Politics with Professor Koomen. She assigns a lot of interesting reading material and her lectures are engaging and makes sure everyone understands the material. She is also compassionate, making sure everyone is mentally healthy.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

Happy Bi Bim Bap House

Fun Facts

Basketball has been a central part of my life as long as I can remember. I played in Asian basketball leagues since I was five and I played for my middle school and high school teams. I'm not that good but I always love to shoot in the gym or play in a pick up game. I'm also a life long Laker fan and try to watch at least a couple of NBA games a week. I want to learn as much as possible through my education and use it as a path towards becoming a politician.

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

Just be yourself; Willamette has something for everyone. If you search hard enough, you'll be able to find people and clubs that match your own interests and hobbies.

I am very sarcastic and I like to think I'm hilarious. I am a coffee fanatic but I'm not addicted to it. I am not as mean as I look. I like to explore, try new things (food), cook, and bake. If I could major in dismantling isms I would.

I have a sort of bad habit of watching makeup tutorials and then going to get all the makeup products used but never trying the actual look... I'm trying to work on that though. Dutch Bros. is my favorite coffee place, and I like to go and try new combinations of flavors for their infused energy drinks (Rebels). I love going to rivers and swimming holes around Oregon, the beach is too cold here so I prefer rivers on hot summer days. I love to read for fun, college makes that hard but I try to do a lot of reading for fun during the summer.

Favorite Class at WU

Latina/o Sociology has been one of my favorite classes at WU both because of the class itself and Professor Nino who teaches it.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

There is a taco stand in front of a grocery store called "El Torito" and they make the best tacos & they are one of the few places open late on the weekends so yeah it's pretty great. Love Love Teriyaki is also good and pretty close to campus.

Fun Facts

I am the youngest of four daughters and I have seven nieces and nephews. I am right handed, but I eat with my left hand and my parents think that's weird. I have a slight obsession with cups and water bottles. Hot Cheetos are my absolute favorite snack in the whole wide world... zero exaggeration, ask anyone that knows me.

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

Talk to your professors! Even if it's just to say hi between classes it makes it easier to go and ask for help if you need it later on. Also, don't force yourself to pursue a certain major if you're not sure about it, explore your options and make the decision that you feel will be best for you.

I really enjoyed my Earth's Climate class because I earned how to make climate models and other programs that I believe are relevant to the conversation about climate change and it's impacts.

Favorite Event at WU

It depends on the weather! When it's sunny I like to lay down by the millstream or go to the outdoor pool in Kaneko. During the winter time I usually stay indoors. If I were you, I would go on one of the outdoor trips to learn how to ski!

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

Saigon Restaurant (for the bánh mì sandwich)

Fun Facts

I like sports, but that doesn't mean I'm good at them. My favorite color is periwinkle. I've fractured my elbow, sprained my ankle, and have torn my ACL and meniscus on my right side only.. it must be because I'm left handed.
