- Available Student Funding from the Office of Student Affairs
The Robert E. Hawkinson Student Initiative Fund is named in honor of Bob Hawkinson, Dean Emeritus of Student Affairs, the fund is to support individual student and student group initiatives and to promote and reward student creativity and innovation. Similar to a “venture capital fund,” priority is given to those proposals that require one-time, start-up financial support, and that seek to enhance the campus community through new, creative programs and/or innovative solutions to existing challenges. To apply, students should submit a 250-500 word proposal to the Office of Student Affairs indicating their goals for the program, initiative, or event, important dates, and key stakeholder groups. A second page should include the budget for the request, including other funding sources and outstanding funding requests. Grant proposals should not request more than $750.
This has already been awarded for the 17-18 academic year - The M. Lee Pelton Endowed Fund for Civic Engagement supports important co-curricular service learning and outreach programs and student-initiated community partnerships. These valuable programs bring students closer to the community, further their sense of agency and civic responsibility, and allow for practical application of what they learn in class. The Pelton Civic Engagement Fund provides support for programs that meet the goals for service learning and those which have a meaningful impact on student life. To apply, students should submit a 250-500 word proposal to the Office of Student Affairs indicating their goals for the program, important dates, and key stakeholder groups. A second page should include the budget for the request, including other funding sources and outstanding funding requests.
