General information on obtaining or renewing a passport. If you are obtaining a passport for the first time, you will need to apply in person. Information on in-person applications, such as required forms and office locations.

The federal government has announced a new policy that means travelers will soon have to bring passports to destinations that in the past haven't required them.

The "Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative" requires that citizens of the U.S., Canada, Bermuda, and Mexico have a passport or other accepted secure document to enter or re-enter United States.

The Department of Homeland Security new policies:

  • Passport required for all air, sea and land border crossings, including:
  • Passport required for all travel to or from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central America, and South America.
  • Passport required for all air and sea travel to or from Mexico and Canada.
