How to Set Up Webprint on Windows 7 32bit

Determine you have the 32bit version of Windows 7

NOTE: If you are using the 64bit version of Windows 7 there are different instructions available. It is important you take the time to look and determine which version you have before proceeding.

  1. Open the start menu, right-click on computer. Choose Properties from the menu.
  2. A window called View basic information about your computer will appear.
  3. Under the section called System look for the System Type.
  4. If it shows "32-bit Operating System" then you have the correct version to follow the rest of this documentation.

Setting up Webprint.

  1. Add A Printer
    a. Open the start menu (The Glowing Blue Marble)
    b. Open the Control Panel (on the right hand side of the menu). A new window should pop-up.
    c. In the control panel click on Hardware and Sound
    d. Underneath Devices and Printers click the "Add a printer" link. A new window should pop-up. This is the Add Printer Wizard.
  2. Add Printer Wizard
    a. Select the option to "Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer."
    b. The next window should say "searching for available printers…" Instead of letting it finish, click on the link with the green arrow near the bottom of the window labeled "The Printer that I want isn't listed."
    c. The next window should say "Find a printer by name or TCP/IP address." Select the option for "Select a shared printer by name" and in the box below fill in with \\home\webprint then click next. The printer should then install itself. The next page prompts to have the printer "set as the default printer" You may choose to select this if you plan on using webprint as the primary printer on your computer (You can always change this later). Click Next.
    d. You may now print a test page if you would like. Click finish.
    e. Congratulations you have finished installing webprint!
