To Cut and Paste from Microsoft Word
The WYSIWYG editor in WISE is a Web-based HTML text editor with powerful formatting capabilities but it does not play nicely with Microsoft Word formatting. To cut and paste from a Word document into the WISE editor, click on the Word clipboard tool found on the top row of the editor's toolbar.
Paste the text into the text box in the popup window using Ctrl-V (Windows) or Command-V (Mac) and click the OK button.
Review the pasted content for accuracy; the formatting may vary slightly from your original and you might still find formatting irregularities that need to be cleaned up.
If you are trying to cut and paste from Office2007 (and maybe 2008, although not documented), you will encounter additional problems because of a bug in the editor. A fix is in the works, but until new code is received you have 3 options:
- Use WordPad, Notepad, TextEdit or some other off-line editor to generate your text
- Where possible, use the Attachments feature to upload the Word document (in .doc format)
- Use the on-line editor directly to generate your text
