Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET)

Letter from the Director

Cheryl K. Brown, Director, Center for Excellence in Teaching

Thank you for your interest in our continuing education courses and programs for educators and administrators. There are five components of our Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET): ESOL, Reading and Special Education endorsements; Administrative License programs; a Continuing Teaching License program; professional development courses and partner workshops. All courses are earned in quarter-hour credits.

  • Endorsement Programs

Through our endorsement programs component, we offer three TSPC-approved programs: the English Speaker of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement Program, the Reading Endorsement Program and the Special Education Program.
  • Administrative License Programs (NDEL)

The New Directions in Educational Leadership (NDEL) administrative license programs prepare educational leaders to respond positively, creatively and proactively to: the increasing demands for school and/or district achievement; an increasingly diverse population; a greater reliance on technology; and a commitment to learning, research and ethical administrative practice.
  • Continuing Teaching License Program

The Continuing Teaching License Program serves teachers in Oregon who hold an Oregon Initial License and are working toward their Oregon Continuing License.
  • Professional Development

Professional development courses are initiated by the CET. They can be used to meet requirements for Professional Development Units and Professional Growth Plans, as required by the school districts and the Teachers Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).
  • Partner Workshops

Partner workshops are sponsored by other entities, and approved by the CET for university credit through Willamette University.

Again, thank you for your interest in our Center for Excellence in Teaching courses and programs.

Sincerely,

Cheryl K. Brown Director
