Knowledge of the issues concerning the involvement of parents and the community in educating students with limited English proficiency. (About half this class will be done online.)

Candidates will work directly with LEP students at two adjacent authorization levels and will have the opportunity and responsibility to assist in the students’ learning.

Provides foundation for understanding the study of linguistics (the function and structure of written and spoken language) for teachers. An emphasis will be placed on practical knowledge that will be useful in helping children learn language (sometimes combined with Reading ED 521).
