Special Education Endorsement ProgramCenter for Excellence in Teaching
Our new Special Education Endorsement Program consists of 38 quarter-hour, graduate-level credits, which will be taken over 14 months (starting one summer and going through the following summer). The program is a cohort program, and there is an application process which should be completed by the February 1 prior to the summer the educator wishes to enter the program.
This endorsement program prepares educators who are ethical, reflective, student-centered, technologically-adept, collaborative and sensitive to issues of diversity and culture, to teach and manage the education of students with special needs.
Designed with in-service teachers in mind, the teachers in this program will enhance their ability to respond positively, creatively, and proactively to increasing achievement demands placed on students with special needs.
The program uses a combination of on-campus instruction, in-district practica, and on-line instruction - combining the strengths of a variety of instructional delivery strategies to utilize the best in teaching, for busy teachers.
