MAT Candidate Brochure

This form will supply information about you for the Willamette University Master of Arts in Teaching Program Candidate Brochure, which is sent to school administrators across the state and southwest Washington. Please complete all items and click the "Submit Form" button at the bottom of the form. This information will be sent via e-mail to Debbie Harvey and your guide group leader. She or Debbie or your guide group leader may get back to you with any questions.

The deadline for electronic submission to your guide group leader is end of the fall semester in December. This is a chance to put your best foot forward to prospective employers. Thank you for your help!

Guidelines

When it is printed, your Candidate Brochure entry must total no more than 18 lines. The 18-line limit may be difficult to ascertain when you are completing the electronic form. It may help to remember that one line typically ranges from 7–11 words, with an average of nine words. Adhere to this rule of thumb as closely as possible.

Your information will be returned edited by us and for additional editing by you if it exceeds this limit. You will all have an opportunity to review and revise your submission at a later date. You can view the completed sample form for suggestions on how to phrase things and/or where to enter certain types of information.

It is critical that you follow the exact format that is in the examples and guidelines nested alongside each item in the form below.

If you have any questions, please contact Debbie Harvey or your guide group leader.

Teaching Strengths
Areas in which you feel confident

List authorizations and endorsements for which you haven't yet passed the licensing exams (including ESL and reading). This is not a list of classes you have taken — for example, if you feel strong in classroom management, it is a strength, but not just because you took the class; also, personal qualities, such as "kind, fair, love kids" are not the aim here — administrators will discover that when you interview!

Examples: multiple intelligences, classroom management, multicultural education, technology

Research

List the title of your Action Research project; we understand this may not be in its final iteration yet, but make it as accurate as you can at this point.

Experience

Your student teaching, practicum, and any previous classroom teaching experience, other relevant items such as tutoring, camp counselor, classroom aide, or coaching; You may include the institution or program, the age or grade range with which you worked, and the number of years you participated in parentheses after the position, depending on space available.
