Supervising TeachersMaster of Arts in Teaching
Professional Development Credit
There are three options for Professional Development Credit:
- School site supervisors who have a Willamette University student teacher for the Spring Sememster are eligible for 1 Quarter Hour Credit from the Scholl of Education's Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET) for any course.
- School site supervisors for Practicum and Student Teaching can get Professional Development Units using the Salem-Keizer School District EPIC form or by arrangement with other school districts.
- School site supervisors who have a Willamette University student teacher for the Spring Sememster can also get credit for supervising a student teacher and attending our meetings by enrolling in the School Partner Workshop (ED 722, 1 Quarter Hour Credit). The requirements of this course are outlined below. Contact the CET at cet@willamette.edu for addiitonal information on this course.
School Partner Workshop Requirements:

Attend All School Partner Meetings

Complete a Written Description
Write a description of one collaborative, inquiry/observation cycle that you completed with your student teacher. Include information about the pre-conference, observation/data collection, and post-conference. Attach copies of the data gathered and the observation/conference notes. -
Complete a Written Reflection on the Process
Focus on the specific cycle described or on the process of supervision in general and submit the written assignment at the last School Partner workshop. Consider addressing the following questions:
- How did the process inform your own teaching?
- What did you learn about mentoring a student teacher?
