While studying on PNCA’s campus, Crimson benefited from the intimacy of a small community of peers and mentors. One crucial force in Crimson’s development was the guidance of BFA Thesis Mentor and Assistant Professor Erin Doughton. Crimson took several courses with Doughton, from a performance independent study course to their thesis experience. Crimson says Doughton continues to “ground me, advocate for me, and support me endlessly.”
“My time at PNCA has allowed me to value my chosen relationships with peers,” Crimson says. “The size of the school is quite special in the capacity for solitary rumination, to personable, happenstance critique. The school's environment has transformed my confidence for guided self-exploration, reaching out to professors in order to guide and grow my curiosities.”
As Crimson prepares to graduate, they embrace the uncertainty of the future with open arms while planning to continue their education.
“I am dreaming up various locations to travel to and see where I could move into the next phase of my life. Overall, I am looking forward to learning how to be an independent artist and grow my practice, not on anyone else's time but my own. Letting my practice breathe in the everyday — feeding my endlessly valuable connections with professors and peers all the while.”
