  STUDENT STORY
Katherine Eum '05
G. Herbert Smith Scholar
When Katherine Eum is not organizing campus activities as a member of Hall Council, the Hawaii Club and Willamette Events Board, she volunteers with the University’s community service organization like Habitat for Humanity and Circle K. But her biggest kicks come from volunteering as a soccer coach for Richmond Elementary School: “The Kids are a lot of fun.” Eum has managed her busy life while holding a near perfect g.p.a. with courses that include Japanese, chemistry, multivariable calculus and environmental systems under stress. “I want to take advantage of every experience I can here at Willamette.”

Building Named Fund Scholarships

Willamette University professors and administrators often make deep, positive impacts on the lives of their students in ways those students never forget, even long after graduation. As alumni, many seek to return the favor — and help future generations of students — by honoring their favorite professor with scholarships in their name.

Willamette’s list of named scholarships is long. With your help, we can build these established funds up to today’s endowment level of $50,000. With a $50,000 base, each scholarship’s minimum annual award would be $2,500. Donations large or small will help our named scholarships reach the $50,000 level. Possibilities abound to add to existing funds that honor someone who might have also been your favorite person on campus.

Below is a list of named scholarships. For further information on these scholarships or how to donate, contact Mari Sue Johnson at 503-370-6740 or mjohnson@willamette.edu.
