Willamette ranked top producer of Fulbright Scholars

by Erin Dahl ,

Willamette University was named one of the top producers of Fulbright Scholars in the nation for the 2015-16 academic year. It is one of two undergraduate colleges in Oregon to make the list.

Funded by the U.S. government, the Fulbright Scholar Program enables American academics and professionals to participate in advanced research and teaching opportunities around the world.

In 2015, W. Warren Binford, an associate professor of law and director of the Clinical Law Program, was named the inaugural chairholder of the Fulbright Distinguished Visiting Research Chair in Brain Science and Family Wellness in Canada. That same year, philosophy professor Ivan Welty was named a Fulbright Scholar and received an appointment at Vietnam National University.

The complete list of top Fulbright-producing schools appears in the Feb. 22 issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education.
