WITS
installs Netscape Messenger on all university-owned staff
and faculty computers, and we encourage its use on personally-owned
computers as well. Netscape can be downloaded for free, and
can be easily configured by students, staff, or faculty to
access Willamette email from on or off campus. WITS has more
experience with and resources available for Netscape Messenger
than with any other email client. Consequently, we can provide
more thorough support for Netscape than we can for other email
clients such as Outlook, Eudora, AOL, etc.
Netscape
is a more robust email client than Webmail in
terms of the features that are available. In addition
to basic features such as sending and receiving
email messages and attachments, and maintaining
an address book, Netscape also allows multiple
accounts management, message filtering, viewing
of Newsgroups, and automatic address completion
during message composition (on-campus users only).
Netscape's performance will also be noticeably
faster than Webmail, particularly if you have
a large number of email messages in your Inbox.
