FTP Using
a Web Browser
Accessing
Your Network Home Directory
This method
can be used from any computer with a network connection and a web browser,
from on or off campus, from a Windows PC or a Macintosh. NOTE:
Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh and Netscape 7 for Windows and Macintosh
support FTP for downloading only.

Start
your web browser.

Clear
the current contents of the Location or Address bar.

Enter
"ftp://username@home.willamette.edu" (username
is your Willamette network name).

Press
return/enter (to send the browser to the address you just entered).

You
will be prompted for a password: enter your Willamette password.

The
contents of your home directory will be displayed as a list of files in
the browser window.
For example:
For Internet
Explorer:
- Select
as many files as you'd like to download. (Ctrl + Click to multiple
select)
- Right
click on one of the highlighted files and select "copy to folder"
from the context menu.
- Browse
to the folder you would like the files saved to and click"OK".
You can also "drag and drop" files from one location to
another with your mouse.
For Netscape
Navigator:
- Right
click on the file you'd like to download. (NOTE: Netscape cannot download
more than one file at a time)
- Select
"Save Link As" from the context menu.
- Specify
the filename and download destination for your file and select "Save".
For Internet
Explorer for Windows:
- Select
as many files as you'd like to upload. (Ctrl + Click to multiple select)
- Right
click on one of the highlighted files and select "copy to folder"
from the context menu.
- Browse
to the folder you would like the files saved to and click"OK".
You can also "drag and drop" files from one location to
another with your mouse.
