Willamette Web Printing - Macintosh OS X (10.3 "Panther"and 10.2 "Jaguar")

Setup the Web Printer Driver | Send a Job to Your Network Print Queue | Printing Documents Stored in Your Network Print Queue

Willamette Web Printing is for users with wireless laptop computers and those who do not have convenient access to a laser printer. Once the web printer driver is installed on your computer, you can send documents to your network print queue. When you are ready to print your documents, all you have to do is login to Willamette Web Printing, select a convenient printer, and print your documents. The instructions below cover adding the web printer to the Printer List in the OS X Print Center, sending a job to your queue, and printing. If you have any problems, contact the WITS Help Desk (x6767 or wits@willamette.edu).

Important Note: To use Willamette Web Printing, your OS X logon name must match your Willamette network user name. If you set your "Short Name" to your Willamette logon name, web printing should work. If you did not, you'll have to create a new logon, as your short name cannot be changed.

Add the Web Printer to the Printer List

  1. Open the Finder, open Applications, open the Utilities folder, then open Print Center. In OS 10.4 aka "Tiger" this item is called Printer Setup Utility.
  2. Click on Add Printer. In OS 10.4, click the Add printer icon, then click the IP Printer icon. This will open the Printer Browser window, similar to the screen shown below.
  3. Make the settings exactly as shown in the figure below:

    OS 10.3 Webprint Settings
    Notes:
If you're using OS 10.2, the screen looks slightly different. You will not see the second list box (Printer Type). In OS 10.4, you will not see the first pull-down list; for Printer Type, choose Line Printer Daemon - LPD.

  4. Click Add (after a short delay, webprint on home will be added to your Printer List).

Your network print queue is now enabled.
