Document #111 |
Date: 03/03 |
Introduction: The address book helps you keep a list of addresses so you do not have to remember addresses that are often complex. Each entry in the address book has three parts.
Pine also allows distribution lists so you can have one nickname that refers to a list of addresses to send mail to. Each distribution list has a nickname, a full name and a list of addresses. The addresses may be actual addresses or they may be ot her nicknames in your address book. They may even refer to other distribution lists.
NOTE: Distribution lists should be limited to no more than 40 people and preferably less than 20. Sending mail to too many people, even addressed through a distribution list, can be a violation of WITS acceptable use. See Willamette University Policy on Appropriate Use of the Campus Computing Facilities and Network for further information. Certain exceptions can exist, such as sending to a Greek organization or employee list. When in doubt, call WITS to confirm your list before sending mail.
NOTE: The distribution lists in Pine are private distribution lists, as is the rest of the address book, and can't be shared among several users.
