Abstract: This document covers how to access an attachment you receive as part of an e-mail message. Attached documents can be more Pine mail, a word processor document, or even an image, sound, program, or movie. Familiarity with the use of Pine Document #110 and with transferring files between a home directory and a personal computer is assumed. Familiarity with saving Pine documents as a file (Document #114) is helpful.

Receiving an Attachment
If you receive a mail message with an attachment you will see something similar to the following in the Message Text screen:

Date: Thu, 19 May 1994 11:49:02 -0700 (PDT)
From: juser@place.edu
To: Marvin Martian <mmartian@willamette.edu>
Parts/attachments:
1 Shown 25 lines Text
2 28 KB Application, "Word 97 file"

Part 1 is always the message itself in standard mail format (text). The attachments, starting at Part 2, will be listed with their size, type, and any short description entered by the sender.
