Is
Your Computer ResNet Ready?
This
document will tell you what items you
need in order to connect your computer
to Willamette's Residential Network.

Personal Computer with a web browser.
WITS recommends either Windows or Macintosh
operating systems, and Netscape Communicator
or Internet Explorer for a web browser.
Minimum computer requirements are listed
below.

Base-T Network Card - This is different
than a modem. Most new PCs and Macs come
with network cards built in. If your computer
does not have an internal network card,
then you will have to install one.
- Cat-5
Network Cable - This is different that a phone
cord. It should be a round cable (not flat), with
plastic connectors at each end. The connector
should have 8 gold colored pins (not 4) inside.
If your cable is flat, or if it only has 4 or
6 pins in the connector, then it will not work!
