Conference
Calls from Campus Phones
In
order to make a conference call, you must have a
"Conference" button on your telephone.
You can set up a conference call for up to six (6)
people, including yourself. If several people want
to listen to one outside caller, WITS has a phone
that may be reserved for this purpose. If conference
capability is needed for more than six callers,
call Linda Lombard at x6728 to arrange for an outside
conference service to handle the call. A 24 hour
notice is not necessary but would make the arrangements
easier.
To
set up a conference call using your campus phone:
- After
calling the first person, press
CONFERENCE. This places the first conferee on
HOLD.
- Dial
the number for the next person you want to add
to the conference.
When the call is answered, you can talk privately
with the person before they join the conference.
(If they do not answer, press the button on your
telephone that shows the extension number you
are using to get back to your active call).
- To
add each additional caller, press CONFERENCE and
dial their number.
- Press
CONFERENCE again to join all callers.
- The
procedure may be repeated to include up to six
(6) people.
The
CONFERENCE key has another capability called CALL
JOIN. Lets say you are on a call, and another
line rings. You place the first call on hold and
answer the second call. Now you would like to join
both callers onto one line. Heres how to do
it:
- You
are currently on a call.
- Press
CONFERENCE.
- Press
the button on your telephone that shows the extension
number you are using that has the other call on
it.
- Press
CONFERENCE. The person on hold joins your conversation.
