LLM Applicants
The director of international programs determines admission to the LL.M. Program. The director reviews each application individually, ensuring the fair appraisal of each candidate's file. Offers will be extended to eligible candidates on the basis of several factors, including law school record, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score if relevant, written recommendations, professional accomplishments and expected commitment to the LL.M. program.
When to Apply
Applications are due April 1 of the enrollment year.
How to Apply
Willamette's College of Law offers an LL.M. in Transnational Law, an advanced law degree available to those who have completed the J.D. at an ABA-accredited American law school or its equivalent from a foreign law school. The application deadline is April 1.

LSDAS Electronic Application
Apply through the LSAC, which maintains an approved electronic-format application to Willamette's College of Law. See the LSAC Web site for information about submitting electronic applications via LSDAS.
Postal Mail
Apply by submitting a paper application. The application can be downloaded in PDF format (below), or an application can be obtained from the College of Law at 503-370-6282 or law-admission@willamette.edu.

Application Materials & Requirements
J.D.
All LL.M. candidates must have a J.D. from an accredited American law school or its equivalent from a foreign law school. Official law transcripts must be sent with degree conferred. If transcripts are not in English, a certified English translation must accompany the original.
Application Processing Fee
Candidates submitting paper applications must submit a nonrefundable application processing fee of $50. Make checks payable to "Willamette University." Submit the application processing fee with the application for admission.
The application processing fee is waived for online applications and may be waived under specific conditions for candidates submitting paper applications.
Letters of Recommendation
Submit two letters of recommendation to LSDAS. Do NOT send letters of recommendation to Willamette.
Letters of recommendation should be written by individuals who can attest to the candidate's academic aptitude and intellectual capability for law school. References from employers or business colleagues are acceptable if a candidate has been out of school for a long period of time.
Official, Certified Academic Records
An official certified copy of your law school transcript, along with an official certification of your law degree. All transcripts or other academic records must be official documents bearing the registrar's signature or the institution's seal. If these records are not in English, a certified English translation must be submitted together with the originals. Please us a credential evaluation services such as World Education Service (WES) or in fall 2004 we recommend utilizing Law School Admission Council (LSAC) LL.M. Credential Assembly Service. If your school permits, you may have these documents sent directly to you, unopened. Otherwise, please contact the school and have the transcript sent directly to Willamette University College of Law, Office of Admission.
Personal Statement
Applicants must submit a written statement discussing your qualification and intentions for pursuing a graduate degree from the College of Law. The statement must be in English.
Résumé
You may also submit your resume/curriculum vitae. This, however, is not a substitute for the personal statement.
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
International applicants must also meet all international applicant requirements.
