Acclaimed Legal Educators

Willamette's diverse law faculty includes some of the most respected legal minds in the country, including former federal judicial clerks, officers of the American Society of Comparative Law, First Amendment specialists and Fulbright scholars, as well as two former justices of the Oregon Supreme Court and the current chief justice.

These scholars and master teachers are nationally recognized for their research, publications and contributions to the law, particularly in the areas of constitutional law, commercial law, international and comparative law, environmental law, and dispute resolution. Yet it is their authentic, deep dedication both as educators and as mentors that distinguishes them from others.

The extensive knowledge the faculty brings to the College of Law curriculum is further expanded by the insights and perspectives brought to the school by the body of talented lawyers and jurists who act as Willamette's adjunct professors and visiting professors. To round out students' exposure to a range of legal perspectives, Willamette University and the College of Law also bring a roster of distinguished speakers to campus each year.

Individualized Learning

At Willamette, brilliant minds make for great teachers and mentors. The College of Law faculty has been chosen for its ability to excite, instruct and inspire. In addition to their impeccable credentials and years of law practice, the Willamette faculty has a deep commitment to teaching.

Thanks to the law school's intimate size, students are not relegated to working with teaching assistants. Professors meet one on one with students to inspire and challenge, helping students hone their analytical skills and sharpen their understanding of the law. Willamette law professors also serve as mentors to their students.
