J.W. Long Law Library

Library Carrels

Policy

All law students who wish to have an assigned carrel must have an enrolled law student carrel partner, both of whom confirm the arrangement with the library. Carrel assignments will be by lottery and are valid until May 31 of the following year unless relinquished or revoked for failure to comply with the terms of the permit.

Carrel Use & Etiquette

  • Do not leave valuable items on your carrel.
  • Maintain a silent study environment.  Conference rooms are available for discussions & cell phone calls.
  • If your partner is using the carrel, use another available library seat.
  • Please check out all your materials or they will be reshelved.
  • The area surrounding the carrel is not to be used for storage.
  • Food items are allowed except those that are messy, noisy or have a noticeable odor.
  • Please do not reshelve materials; leave them on the book trucks provided.
