Oregon Law Commission Honors Hans Linde

In early September, members of the Oregon Law Commission honored former Oregon Supreme Court Justice Hans A. Linde for his 12 years of service on the Commission. A nationally renowned jurist and scholar in the area of public law, Linde served on the Oregon Law Commission from its inception in October 1997 to February 2009.

Lane P. Shetterly, chair of the Oregon Law Commission, thanked Linde for his dedicated leadership and service to the state, as well as the role he played in the creation of the Commission, Oregon's official law reform agency. "In 1984, Professor Linde and Professor Dom Vetri co-authored a Willamette Law Review [Vol. 20, No. 2] article that recommended the Legislature create a law revision commission," he explained.

"It has been a pleasure and an honor to have served with Professor Linde, whose lifetime of service as a lawyer, law professor and state Supreme Court justice is legendary," Shetterly added, presenting a commemorative plaque to Linde. "He has contributed so much on behalf of the people of Oregon. He will long be remembered in the annals of the state legal system."
